Primary schools in low-income districts faced significant shortages in targeted individual tutoring for foundational reading and numeracy skills.
At the same time, university students needed structured, impactful volunteer opportunities to build leadership skills and contribute to local development.
Solution
SAF established the initial GOAL pilot phase to mobilize university volunteers to act as mentors and academic tutors in primary classrooms.
Mentors were assigned to small student groups, providing personalized learning plans, literacy support, and academic guidance.
